Servicing and Rustproofing

Been thinking about rustproofing options on my landrover Defender and want to do it on a very tight budget.I was thinking of using a concoction of old oil and grease to protect the chasis and under carriage especially. Methinks it will work.Budget? Good.

On servicing my landrover i have adopted a programme of servicing at half the intervals than landrover provides and the reliability of the vehicle is superb. So instead of servicing every 6000 miles i ensure i do it every 3000. Absolutely no breakdowns,100% reliability and a landrover good for another half century.Only genuine parts used.

Check out some of the videos of the current TDCi landrover defender and the dc100 concept from Youtube in the sidebar on the right. Love them.

dc100 concept defender

Hi all wanted to make a few remarks on the concept landrover defender unveiled by landrover in September, i think yes it is ultramodern etc but it somehow loses its iconic silhouette and posture that make it command respect on the road.Sorry to say it but it looks like a mix between some of the popular japanese fourwheel drives and a saloon car. I know the design etc is cutting edge but it just doesen't do it for me. My appeal to Landrover is please retain a large % of the current design. Another thought is what will happen to the sale of military landrovers especially where landrover still supplies to those countries that use them? Comments invited.

Welcome

Hello and welcome everyone to my new blog on Landrover Defenders. I am a landrover owner myself and have tried many things on my car which i would like to share with other landrover owners and discuss. I am still in the process of refining my blog so i ask you to bear with me as i build it.

I have used the Mobil 1engine oil in my landrover which is a 200Tdi Defender without any adverse effects and i must say it is running well. I am yet to change my engine oil after 8 months and it is still very clean. Has anyone tried this? I would love to hear from you.
